The objective of Visionkeeper Film Productions is to preserve the content and sprit of the legends, history and culture of the teachings from our Aboriginal elders to be passed on to our younger generations through film.

As an Aboriginal film production company, we would like to protect our future by preserving our past, capturing our elders on film as they recollect history to pass onto future generations. It's important as a story teller to share with Aboriginal youth, especially students in the education system, our Aboriginal legacy, the history of First Nations people as the original stewards of this land long before European settlers arrived.

We believe to delve into Native history one must go deep into the hearts of our ancestors, exploring yesterday with precise documentation of the history of the Cowichan people. The Cowichan Valley is rich with history and tradition, all of it being oral. It is important to document our oral legacies while our elders are still among us. When an elder passes we fear their life stories, the history of our people, our teachings, will pass with them.

We feel it is important to educate not only First Nations people, but the non-Aboriginal community regarding the constant struggles of our Aboriginal ancestry, struggles reflected in our culture today. Sharing the long history of Aboriginal peoples will open the eyes and ears of those who have doubt in their minds or think they understand First Nations.
